Clare Phillips

Director of Social Purpose, ITV

Clare Phillips is Director of Social Purpose at ITV plc, with overall responsibility for ITV’s strategy to shape culture for good. ITV has four social purpose aims:
1. Encouraging the nation to take better care of its mental and physical health
2. Fostering creativity by embracing diversity
3. Producing the biggest shows with the smallest footprint, including Net Zero by 2030
4. Giving back to communities and causes, supporting UNICEF through Soccer Aid.
Clare started her career at JWT, moving to AMV BBDO where she ran the strategy for the award-winning Economist campaign. After moving to Sky to set up the in-house planning team, she joined BBC’s creative agency Red Bee which included the successful rebrand of the TV channel Dave. She went on to run Channel 4's Research and Insight Team before joining ITV to lead Brand Planning in Marketing, moving to her current role in January 2019.
Clare has won many awards for her campaigns over the years; including 4 IPA Effectiveness Awards and the Marketing Society’s Award for Leading Edge Thinking. ITV’s Britain Get Talking campaign for mental health won 26 awards in 2020; including Creative Circle Gold of Golds, Marketing Society for Transforming Corporate Culture, Media Week Grand Prix and Marketing Week Masters Grand Prix.
