Ella Chan
Vice President, Business Initiatives, Sam’s Club
Ella Chan joined Sam’s Club as Vice President, Business Initiatives in July 2020. She is responsible for driving the Sam’s Club strategy and ensuring the innovation pipeline.
Previously she was the Vice President of Strategy, and Innovation for Walmart China where she was responsible for developing and executing Walmart China’s corporate strategy, creating a digital technology innovation incubator, and reinventing the traditional store format to meet the needs of China’s evolving consumers. In addition, she was a member of the Walmart China Executive Committee, the International Women in Leadership Council at Walmart and currently serves on the President’s Inclusion Council.
Prior to this, she served as Senior Director of Walmart Asia Strategy with responsibilities over Japan, India and China. Key initiatives during her tenure included resetting Japan’s portfolio strategy, India’s retail partnership, and launch of China’s e-commerce platform.
Preceding Walmart, she was with Citysuper (Hong Kong), leading the premium grocer’s China entry strategy and category management adoption.
Ella has a Master of Business Administration from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the London Business School and a Bachelor of Science in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
In her spare time, Ella likes to explore cities and kitchens with her husband and two kids.
