Member Interview with Natasha Vaughan Jeremy

Natasha Vaughan Jeremy

We are delighted to bring you a Member Interview with Natasha Vaughan Jeremy, CMO and Founder, The Luxe Narrative

What’s your golden rule?

Persistence and resilience is absolutely key. Someone I met who has had an incredible career once told me, you will get maybe hundred's of no's, but it is important to remember you often only ever need one yes. That has really stuck with me.

Who has been your biggest influence?

I would say influences have changed and shifted throughout my career depending on the stage I was at; at some points this was family, my children and also past leaders I have had the privilege to be exposed to. Moving to this region from the UK was also a huge influence and has had an incredible impact on my career.

What is your most hated business expression?

The car park concept! Parking ideas to re-visit later. Often they didn't get re-visited...and for good reason. Let's change the language to what we will prioritize our efforts on. Also I am sure it has been said before but work/life balance; for me it is about managing your time so you can have space for both in your life but it won't always be in equal parts, and that is fine.

What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?

I didn't realise it at the time but probably accepting a job opportunity in Dubai back in 2012. Moving and working here has really expanded my learning and exposed me to some amazing brands, experiences and dynamics across the region. Also most strong ideas come from a collective team. Great ideas only mean something once they have been executed well. One recent example was the collaboration we launched with one of my niche fragrance brands Kilian Paris at Abu Dhabi Race Weekend...this was a multi-tiered partnership which helped launch the brand in a whole new domain and was well aligned to the brand equity and became a global best practice.

Which leader do you admire most and why?

Hard to name just one! I’ve had the privilege of having experienced great leaders both career wise and also just having seen strong women rise in their respective fields and would say they all had common traits; a blend of sharp business acumen, relentless dedication and empathy and authenticity. They know their strengths and fully own and play into them.

What is on your mind the most right now as a marketing leader?

The sheer information overload out there. Consumers are more overwhelmed than before. There is really too much choice! It's our job as marketers to simplify further. The brands who can leverage technology in the right way which is in line to brand ethos will win. Those who are willing to innovate and consider new solutions or partnerships; but not just for the sake of it.

Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?

The ability to connect with other marketers really expands my learning and challenges me to consider new areas and I love hearing what topics are on others' minds and everyone has been really supportive. They also run really fantastic events focusing on a variety of topics. It is a truly global network and I really appreciate the breadth of experience it provides

Why does marketing matter to you?

It is such a dynamic, rich industry which changes at such a rapid pace it is pretty much impossible to not continue to develop yourself to keep up with it. I love the tangibility of marketing and brand building; the fact that all efforts end up often in a real consumer service, good or product sold on a shelf and we as a team had a direct impact on that. That's why I launched the luxe narrative (consultancy) as I want to support a broader portfolio of brands and businesses with their growth story and build truly win-win partnerships.

Tell us something that’s not on your CV

I'm a mother to two young kids who keep me on my feet! I'm also a writer.
