Lee Beattie

Director, Wire

Lee Beattie is the co-founder and Joint-MD of WIRE – last year’s Marketing Society Scotland Star Agency of the Year.

She began her career at a music management company specialising in boy bands and she credits this experience with honing her ability to build inspiring and consistent brand stories. Mainly because teenage girls would call the office to threaten her if a single word in the bands’ promo felt inauthentic.

She then moved to a boutique PR agency, spending eight years delivering campaigns across an impressive portfolio of brands and events, including, Fopp, Jim Beam, T in the Park, Download and T-Mobile.

She launched WIRE in 2010 alongside Pam Scobbie with a mission to build a no rules, media-neutral agency that produced noisy, unmissable and effective campaigns, while valuing good people as much as good work.

Ten years later, WIRE has a distinct reputation as one of Scotland’s leading independent creative shops, with a talented team of 27 making famous work for brands, including Tennent’s Lager, Magners, Whyte & Mackay, Edinburgh Gin, Glengoyne, DC Thomson Media, Tobermory, Edinburgh City Centre, and Old Pulteney.

Last year alone, WIRE was named Best Agency four times – including the Best Agency Outside the M25 at the PR Week Awards. Lee also led a team to win the UK’s prestigious Creative Shootout competition – the first Scottish agency ever to take the crown.
