World's Big Sleep Out

The Marketing Society Scotland is delighted to support Social Bite’s World's Big Sleep Out which is taking place in Princes Street Gardens on the 7th of December. Building on the success of Social Bite's record-breaking events, Edinburgh will be joining 50 cities across the world to call for an end to homelessness.

The team have secured Trafalgar Square and Times Square as venues, with Dame Helen Mirren and Will Smith reading bedtime stories to participants. The flagship Scottish event (and Social Bite's last ever Sleep Out) will be closed out by none other than Rab C Nesbitt.

Social Bite is a chain of cafes that exists to end homelessness in Scotland. 1 in 3 of staff have direct lived experience of homelessness and all profits go towards world-leading campaigns and housing projects.

In 2017, Social Bite invited the whole country to Princes Street Gardens. 8000 people answered the call, raising an astonishing £4m and creating a mass movement for change. Shortly after, they launched the 830 Homes Campaign, now the UK's largest Housing First project.

Last December, Social Bite held simultaneous Sleep Outs in 4 cities across Scotland. 10,000 people slept outside, raising another £4m to end homelessness. Since these events, Social Bite have housed 118 people, opened more social enterprise cafes and seen the first cohort of village residents move into permanent mainstream accommodation of their own.

Over past few years Director, Graeme Atha and Marketing Society members have supported this fantastic cause by taking part in the Sleep Out. We would encourage you to show your support - either by taking part or making a donation.
