Svein Clouston
Co-Founder and Co-Managing Director, Rationale
Svein is the Co-Founder and Co-Managing Director of Rationale, a strategic brand and content agency based in Edinburgh, with offices in New York and London.
After completing a degree in French and Politics, Svein gained a postgraduate qualification in journalism and went on to work with Arsenal Football Club, the French Football League, and the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Across Rationale and previous senior agency roles, he has worked with some of the world’s leading regulated-services brands. Over the past fifteen years, he has devised and delivered campaigns for clients including Bupa, LinkedIn, HSBC, Lloyds Banking Group, Mizuho, and the Royal Bank of Canada.
Svein’s areas of focus include wellbeing in leadership and shaping the future of the marketing industry in Scotland. He is passionate about creating healthier models of leadership and regularly mentors emerging marketers, and speaks in schools to inspire young people to pursue careers in marketing and creativity.
At Rationale, Svein leads the agency’s AI Working Group, helping clients explore how new technologies can enhance marketing effectiveness, without compromising creativity, ethics, or quality.
Away from work, Svein is a keen runner and cyclist. He is also the Scottish Middleweight Chessboxing Champion and currently ranks 7th in the world at DivingChess.
