City Guides: Baltimore - Rob Pierre

Rob Pierre, CEO of Jellyfish, gives us his inside tips on Baltimore.

Best Hotel for business?
The Four Seasons most definitely. When recommending somewhere to talk business, it’s a reflection of you and your company so the reputable Four Seasons is a top choice. The setting is great, the environment slick, the atmosphere relaxed, offering quiet areas to conduct business. And you can occasionally do some celebrity spotting – I’ve seen the cast of House of Cards, Hugh Laurie, a few Orioles players and One Direction were rumoured to have been staying there the last time I visited.

Best hotel for pleasure?
Again, the Four Seasons. After a long flight and a jam-packed work schedule, it’s great to relax in the spa or by the infinity pool, and wind down in the gym. Followed by more winding down at the poolside bar, of course.

Best bar for celebrating?
The world’s first Grand Marnier Club at One-Eyed Mike’s is somewhere I always drop into when I’m in town. It’s fun, relaxed and inclusive. I often go here with the Jellyfish team.

Best bar for business drink?
Four Seasons – again. I guess you can call me their no.1 fan!

Best restaurant for business lunch?
It would have to be Capital Grille, directly across from The National Aquarium. Fantastic atmosphere, booth dining, great food. I always order the salt and pepper squid - it’s amazing. And I highly recommend their signature dry aged porterhouse steak. Heaven on a plate.

Best way to spend an hour in-between meetings?
I love walking around the harbour. A key part of Baltimore’s regeneration, it’s a vibrant hub with plenty going on.

Best restaurant for dinner?
The Prime Rib steakhouse is somewhere I often visit for dinner, and have also taken clients here. I love the supper club theme - it exudes 1940’s glamour with its décor and the tuxedoed staff offer an excellent service. Oh, and the lobster bisque and fillet steak are out of this world.

If you only have time to DO one thing in my city, then do this...
There are so many things to do, but I would highly recommend a trip around the harbour on the Seadog – great fun! And if you can squeeze in a Ravens game and do a spot of tailgating, even better.
