  1. Male CEOs with the deepest voices earned more on average than the ones with reedier tones. They also tended to head up bigger firms, according to a study of nearly 800 American CEOs in the US.
  2. Britain is one of the most racially tolerant countries in the the world, with fewer than 5% saying they would mind having neighbours of a different race - compared to 23% in France, 44% in India and 51% in Jordan.
  3. Asked to identify their happiest types of home, 88% listed those on cul-de-sacs. Only country lanes, on 93%, were more popular.
  4. During a 90-minute game, each footballer is in possession of the ball for just 53.4 seconds, on average.
  5. Nearly 10,000 children aged between five and seven are acting as unpaid carers for family members or guardians - 80% more than a decade ago.
  6. The French call a walkie-talkie a talkie-walkie.
  7. There is more protein in a caterpillar than a dung beetle.
  8. Using "don't" and "won't" correctly in online dating messages boosts response rates by more than a third.
  9. A KFC family meal in Gaza costs £18 and must be brought in by tunnel from Egypt.
  10. 75% of children know the passwords to their parents' phones and computers. One in five children have secretly bought things online this way.
