Can you help rebrand a well-loved London charity?

Can you rebrand a London charity?
This month Pimp My Cause is featuring the work of South Thames Crossroads, an excellent charity, doing fantastic work that greatly needs your help with rebranding their organisation so that carers desperately in need of their services can find them.

South Thames Crossroads was established in 1986 to support some of the most vulnerable in society, those who are looking after or caring for those who can’t look after themselves due to disability, illness or old age. Their services provide a respite care and advice service for all types of carers, for example an adult looking after their parent who has dementia, a child looking after a parent with a disability or a parent looking after a child with a life threatening illness.

The life of a carer can be extremely stressful and isolating. They often spend over 50 hours a week looking after their loved one and don’t have time to stay in touch with their own support network of friends and family. South Thames Crossroads provides 500 respite services to carers in the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Croydon, Merton, Sutton and Wandsworth. This provides carers with 3 or 4 hours a week to catch up with friends while the person they look after is given expert care.

The charity has traditionally connected with carers through referrals from local authorities who pay for their services. But more recently individual carers in need of their services are getting in touch having heard about them through word of mouth. South Thames Crossroads now needs a more memorable and distinctive name to make it easier for more carers in need of their services to find them.

Stefan Kuchar, Chief Executive at South Thames Crossroads, said. “Our name is confusing and no longer makes sense. We started out as part of the Crossroads Care network, but Crossroads recently merged with Carers Trust which is a membership charity that focusses on support for young carers. Our organisation supports all carers, so it makes more sense for us to go independent. And as an independent charity we need a new name and brand identity that clearly states what we do and helps people in need to find us.”

Marketing support needed:
  • South Thames Crossroads is becoming independent from their national network partners in order to diversify and spread their services to a wider range of beneficiaries. In conjunction with this they now seek to develop a new brand that will act as a platform for future marketing activities and that will help potential service users to find them.
  • They have recently had pro bono support with a stakeholder analysis and a business review, which will be used to help inform the new brand identity. They have a meeting scheduled for September 24th to work on developing the new name and they would love to have an expert in brand development join them to support this process.
  • They would also like help with extending the new brand position into a communications strategy to support the brand re-launch in April 2016.
