The Glade Boutique: the ultimate sensory experience

The ultimate sensory experience
Have you ever encountered a scent and have it immediately take you back to a certain time and place?

Knowing the profound effect that the sense of smell can have on us, Glade built its own sensory ‘Boutique’ in New York.

The Glade Boutique comprised 5 different scented rooms - each a unique experience inspired by a scent in the Glade portfolio.

The rooms were labelled ‘Anticipation’, ‘Relax’, ‘Flirty, ‘Fresh & New’ and ‘Energize’ for the feelings they intended to evoke in their guests.



But before heading into these rooms, which were laid out like steam rooms would be in a spa, guests encountered ‘The Feelings Lounge’, a wall of candles, and took part in a candle smelling experience similar to that of wine tasting.



As the pop-up was around just before Christmas, the Anticipation room not only made guests feel like they were in a snow globe, but also left guests with a reminder of the upcoming holiday with scents of fresh snow and pine trees.



In the Relax room, guests were made to feel like they were on a beach; the coral colours, sand and sounds of the ocean’s waves transported them to a tropical locale.

The Flirty room proved popular with many of the female guests. Reminiscent of a lady’s boudoir, the room was filled with fresh flowers, a vanity unit complete with fashion and beauty accessories, and an ornate evening gown made of scented flowers, which guests could take pictures of themselves in.

The Fresh and New room was made up of linen rugs, clouds, and a super soft four-poster bed was the main centrepiece.  



Now, I think the Energize room may be my favourite of them all. Glade used Virtual Reality technology in this room; guests were encouraged to don an Oculus Rift headset that took them over waterfalls and fields of Red Honeysuckle Nectar.
