How your marketing can provide support for people affected by Autism

Practical support for autism

Autism affects at least 1% of the population and knows no class or race boundaries. Almost all of us are likely to know someone who is affected.

That’s why this month we’ve chosen to feature the great work of Resources for Autism. They provide practical services for anyone with Autism no matter where they are on the spectrum of severity and also for the people who love and care for them.

The charity has been working in the London and Birmingham areas for over 18 years. They provide local, specialist play and youth groups, adult skills and social groups, Reach Out home support, support groups and one-on-one community-based support. All of their staff and volunteers are autism-trained and receive ongoing training and supervision.

But while Resources for Autism are excellent at addressing the needs of people affected Autism, they nevertheless need to improve their marketing capabilities in order to be able to increase their impact.

The key challenge they face is how to build their funding base so that they can continue to scale their impact despite a challenging funding climate.
Liza Dresner, Director of Resources for Autism, said, “We have no difficulty attracting service users due to our reputation as a quality, specialist provider but we need help gaining and maintaining external support for fundraising. This includes building corporate partnerships, developing relationships with Health and Mental Health Trusts and with brokers who inform individuals about suitable services for personal budget holders.

In addition we have relatively few individual major donors and would like to increase these and maintain relationships with them over the long term rather than just benefitting from them as one-off sponsors”.

Use your marketing skills to make a difference
Resources for Autism are a ‘cradle to grave’ service that meets the needs of people that other organisations turn away. They currently support over 2,000 families, but they have another 3,000 people on their waiting list. Your marketing support could mean many more people affected by autism getting the support they need.

By using your marketing expertise to help Resources for Autism build their donor base you will be directly enabling many more children and adults with autism to have access to life changing services.

Resources for Autism needs your help to improve their fundraising strategy and formulate the right engagement offerings for the right audiences.
