We are delighted to bring you a Fellows Interview with Tamara Rogers, Chief Marketing Officer, Haleon
The Marketing Society Fellowship is our highest and most prestigious accolade awarded to outstanding marketing leaders who have achieved significant success in the markets they’ve worked in and made an active contribution to The Marketing Society and our industry more broadly.
What’s your golden rule?
Listen first. The best insights come from curiosity, not certainty.
Who has been your biggest influence?
Jim Carroll – a brilliant planner I was lucky to work with at BBH. The power of breakthrough thinking, seeing beyond the minutiae, making the complex delightfully simple and actionable – piqued my curiosity to uncover meaning.
What is your most hated business expression?
It’s got to be ‘Let’s agree to disagree’. No! Let’s agree what action we are taking and go all in to make it happen. Done is better than perfect for most opportunities.
What’s the smartest business idea you’ve ever had?
I’m not telling everybody that – I haven’t launched it yet!
Which leader do you admire most and why?
I’m not going with the obvious, but an individual who has touched the lives of many, shaped pop culture over many decades, is a great storyteller and inspirer of world class performances. Stephen Spielberg – from Jaws and ET to Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan.
What is on your mind the most right now as a marketing leader?
I always think can I be proud of my legacy? What we do as marketers can have a significant and positive impact and I take that responsibility seriously.
Why is being part of The Marketing Society important for your career?
Community. Connecting, inspiring, being inspired – the Marketing Society is a community that celebrates creativity, diversity, strategic thinking and the impact marketing can have on business and society. I truly believe that what people can achieve when different voices come together is powerful – so I’m excited to learn, share ideas, push boundaries, and raise the bar for what marketing can achieve.
Why does marketing matter to you?
Marketing is about growth. Growth for individuals, teams, community, business and planet. And what I love is that this all comes down to people and the difference we can make.
What do you think the biggest challenge in marketing will be in 2026
Change. Everything is changing, yet, what is important is not. As marketers, what we know to be true about building trust, being consistent, that’s enduring. The challenge is, amidst all the noise, staying focused on what is material – adopting a growth mindset to absorb new info, learn and iterate to progress. It’s exciting and scary in equal measure. Fun times!
Tell us something that’s not on your CV
It’s not something you’ll find on my CV, but I’m passionate about football. I’m a bit obsessed, to be honest. I love observing the impact of mindset on performance. At the highest level, seeing how confidence, the bravery to experiment, try something, that can be the between winning and losing.
