Nina Bibby, marketing and consumer director at O2 said, 'It's been a huge year for us. Thank you to our amazing team, our agency partners and the 7000 people who live the brand every day. It's all about the 4Ps - our people, our pride in the brand, our passion for the brand and our partners in our agencies. That's what this award is all about.'
O2 joins an illustrious line up of Marketing Society Brands of the Year including Macmillan Cancer Support in 2014, Sainsbury's in 2013 and Procter & Gamble in 2012. 'At O2 the brand runs the company, rather than the company running the brand. O2 has been a brilliant brand ever since its launch 13 years ago and this was a well-deserved win,' said Hugh Burkitt, CEO of The Marketing Society.
At the same event, Ron Dennis, chairman and CEO, McLaren was given the Outstanding Leadership Award for his contribution to business and marketing.
O2's consistent achievements in rewriting the rules of the mobile sector and building a brand that helps its customers get the most from their mobile devices have cemented its place as The Marketing Society's Brand of the Year. From the success of its loyalty programme, Priority Moments to its important work on building Europe's biggest mobile network recycling programme, O2 is a force to be reckoned with.
Meanwhile, despite England's early exit from the Rugby World Cup, O2 pushed fans to make the England team giants by wearing the rose in support. The mobile company also changed the signage on all its stores for the first time to show the English rose.
In 2014 the brand added 830,000 new customers taking its total customer base to over 24 million.

If it wasn’t for Eurosis’s live voting technology we wouldn’t have been able to ask our Annual Dinner guests to choose our Brand of the Year on the night itself. If you’d like to use their services, quote MSOC2015 for a special Marketing Society member discount.
