Navigating Challenge and Change: a review

By Tina Gupta

The Marketing Society event in Singapore

Change is the only constant and change could not take a more center stage position than it does today, with everything being redesigned be it companies, processes, tools or technology. One thing we are certain of - this change is not temporary, it is structural and coming to us faster than what is easy to handle. The question then is, how do we navigate change and the challenges that they bring along?

Tina Gupta's review of the recent Challenge & Change event reveals how in times of rapid change, senior leaders can navigate the uncertainty by shifting from reactive pressure and overwork to intentional leadership grounded in self-awareness and purpose.

Yan Yi Chee, a seasoned advertising and talent development executive and certified coach took us through a grounded and practical approach of how senior leaders respond under pressure, what truly matters in moments of change, and how to navigate uncertainty without losing clarity of self.

Riding the change

It is human to give in to pressure, to overcompensate, work harder, push ourselves, but  what’s the return? It creates stress, fatigue and burn out. Thousands of employees across companies and countries are battling this. The key is to move from reaction to intentional leadership to be self-aware, be backed by purpose and have a strategic allocation of time and energy, so we ride this change than being consumed by its challenges.

Be conscious of your strengths, mindful of your values, and in touch with the unique contribution that you and only you can bring. Only when we are grounded and aware of our true self-worth are we able to be intentional.

5 tips that we can all take away and invest in

  1.  Create clarity of self
  2.  Do not allow burn-out, it does not help anyone
  3. Take a break, take the control back
  4. Be in the driver’s seat or you will be drifted along
  5. Once in the driver’s seat, be focused on five year goal and drive towards that post

With 2025 in the backdrop and 2026 ahead of us this exercise is not just timely, but more powerful than what meets the eye. Hope the exercise helps you all the way it helped me!
