Our Trendspotting events provide a platform for marketers to learn from each other, share insights and stay ahead of the curve in our ever-evolving industry.

Join us on June 4 at The Social Hub in Glasgow for this year's Trendspotting Strategy, sponsored once again by EssenceMediacom.

Chaired by Rod Gillies, the overarching theme will be the Power of Tension and we'll be exploring 3 areas:

Social and Cultural Norms in Advertising

We'll examine the tension between brand values and diverse audience perceptions in today’s fragmented cultural landscape. How do brands engage meaningfully and authentically with societal issues?

Speakers include Teddy Craig, Senior Content Strategist, Bright Signals and Rich Miles, Founder/CEO and Alex Gabbutt, Head of Community Research, Diversity Standards Collective.

Joining the Q&A session will be Vic Milne, Head of Strategy, Bright Signals and Rebecca Hamilton, Founder, Big Brand Love.

Trust, Tension, and Taking Risks Together

In today’s increasingly crowded and fast changing marketplace, the tension between safe bets and leaps of faith in marketing has never been more pronounced. This session explores how brands and their agency partners can challenge the status quo, make bolder strategic decisions, and deliver more impactful work - without losing stakeholder trust.

Speakers include: Dave King, Head of Creative & Strategy, StudioLR and client Jaclyn McKie, Head of Marketing, Isle of Arran Distillers. Robbie Hurst, Head of Strategy, MadeBrave and client Christina MacLennan, IKEA for Business Key Account Manager for Scotland.

Brand Strategy and Optimism

Can tension and optimism coexist in brand storytelling? This session will highlight how brands can navigate complex challenges to deliver clear, positive messaging. We’ll discuss how optimism can emerge from friction to resonate with audiences.

Speakers include: Mark Geary, Founder, Big Blue Boat and Ross Macdonald, Senior Strategist, Frame.
